According to Ted Cruz, we shouldn’t blame the Tea Party for the government shutdown, because it is the work of the Almighty.
“Well, David, you know at every stage, my prayer to God is that his will be done. As it will be,” Cruz said in reply to a reporter’s question.
Cruz of course is not alone in viewing events through skewed religion and injecting his faith perspectives into the narrative.
Michele Bachmann believes the world is approaching the end of days.
Pat Robertson helpfully has joined the conversation. He believes in both the sequester and the shutdown but is nervous about the debt ceiling debate.
The looming deadline, which could trigger default, is, according to Robinson, a “countdown to Armageddon.”
If one believes in an omnipotent being, then how can that person speak on His behalf? Wouldn’t God want all his children healthy, happy and offered the options of Obamacare? After all, more than a million people in Cruz’s state of Texas are without health coverage.
Maybe God just wants the Democrats to regain control of the House and create a larger majority in the Senate.
After all, He works in mysterious ways.
