Ever since Megyn Kelly sparked a Christmas race war worthy of a WWE storyline, she has found support all across the “not-racist” conservative mediascape that has expanded to discrimination against “black santa” imagery even in our schools. Desperate to ignore that the real St. Nicholas (the inspiration for Santa Claus) most definitely was not white, conservatives have been working overtime to push the idea that the fictional character is, most definitely, caucasian.
On Monday Night RAW, it seems we have seen the white Santa/black Santa debate as close to settled as we can hope in conservative media. As part of the wrestling brand’s recent attempts to mask the company’s typically overt racism on the show, White Santa took on Black Santa in a battle for the fate of Christmas itself! Surprisingly, “Good Santa” got to be black!
“Good Santa,” wrestling veteran Mark Henry locked horns with “Bad Santa,” Damien Sandow. Announcer John Bradshaw Layfield, who is the “longest reigning champion in WWE history” and works as a FOX News business analyst, cheered enthusiastically (of course) for the white Santa. According to JBL, a white Santa victory would be good for the kids because they would have to work for their Christmas presents.
After “Good Santa” prevailed, he began to open a “gift” in the corner of the ring. Layfield lit into Mark Henry with every mild to midrange racist comment and stereotype he could slide into his commentary without “Phil Robertsoning” himself:
“What is he doing? Santa is a thief! Arrest that Santa! Police! Police!…Can we please put this man in chains?”
“In character” or not, why is it not surprising that a FOX News personality would be screaming to put the black Santa in chains? Previously, Layfield was fired from CNBC after performing the Nazi salute multiple times in Munich Germany during a wrestling show, but was made Champion by the WWE. Shortly after, he was hired by FOX News. In May, he made a number of incredibly bigoted remarks directed at legal and illegal hispanics alike, saying that it is “better to be a dog then a Mexican.”
Some conservatives are, predictably, outraged at the thought of a black Santa, let alone a black Santa winning the fight. Unlike Layfield, these folks aren’t quite so quick to censor themselves! Here are just a few of the intelligent and totally not racist comments on Truth Revolt alone:
