An Ohio State Highway Patrol officer is breathing a little easier tonight, knowing he won’t be facing charges of child abuse for masturbating with a boy while watching porn. Trooper Ricky Vitte Jr. admitted to his wife that he was trying to teach the boy about masturbating so he wouldn’t feel the need to have sex before he was ready.
Sexual activity of this nature occurred at least twice, and when investigators approached Vitte about the incident he fled in his Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser and led police on a chase, with speeds of up to 60-mph for about a mile.
In an interview with the Sandusky Register, Sandusky County, Ohio Sheriff’s Deputy Sean O’Connell said “Rick’s [Vitte] reasoning is the fact that he did not want (the boy) to feel pressured on feeling the need to have to have sex with someone, when he can fix those needs by masturbating to porn.”
So it’s okay! No foul! Because guys masturbate together in the same room all the time, especially fathers and sons, or step-fathers and step-sons. Right?
Sandusky County prosecutor Tom Stierwalt decided not to press charges as Vitte might present a legitimate reason for his sexual activity with a minor. Even though it’s customary for the defendant to create his own defense when facing allegations, it appears Stierwalt is creating one for Vitte.
“I can’t imagine a situation where that would be appropriate in our culture,” Marlene Boas, an area clinical counselor, said. “If he would’ve masturbated in the same room as (a pre-teen girl), do you think he would be prosecuted?”
Vitte has a history of domestic abuse, on one occasion spanking his then girlfriend’s son’s buttocks till they were bruised and bleeding for wetting the bed. When his wife confronted him about the spanking, he head-butted her. Vitte pled no contest and was found guilty of a lesser charge of child endangerment.
Dean Henry is the lawyer representing Vitte, who has been served notice that his wife has filed for sole custody and a restraining order. Henry has responded with a motion giving his client supervised visitation with his children.
Vitte is employed in good standing with the Ohio State Troopers with an annual cost to tax payers of $83,000 a year.
