God clearly works in mysterious ways.
Three-year-old Haden Nelson died after being left inside a car in temperatures in the high 90s while his caretaker attended a church choir practice.
Phoenix police reported Monday that Haden had been left inside of the hot car outside the Abundant Life Church on Saturday afternoon, making the irony in that church’s name a very bitter pill to swallow.
Haden was being cared for by a family friend while his mother went to choir practice. An hour later that friend showed up to the same choir practice with her two children, but not Haden. Astonishingly the women didn’t immediately set about trying to find the baby, but stayed until choir practice was over.
Choir practice ended three hours later and that’s when Haden’s mom and the others began looking for him. Haden was found in extremely critical condition and not breathing in his caretaker’s car. He was transported to the hospital but died Sunday afternoon. Police spokesman James Holmes, issued perhaps what is the most suspicious and awful explanation for Haden’s death in the history of ever,
“She was in a hurry. She had something that she had to do, and she didn’t take a minute to make sure.”
The case is still under investigation by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and no arrests have been made so far. Haden is the 28th child to die in a hot car this year.
