Here’s proof that owning a gun doesn’t make you any safer from others — yourself included. NewsOne6 reports that an Oklahoma woman has been hospitalized after a failed attempt to fend off two robbers led to her shooting herself.
The police say that the victim, a unidentified woman in her 20s, was outside having a yard sale in Tulsa on Sunday when a man and a woman approached her. Somehow, events lead to the trio inside of the home’s kitchen, where the suspects began to gather the victim’s belongings.
That was when she produced a gun to defend herself; Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Dedlorn Sanders said that the male suspect attempted to get the gun away from her, and in the process, the woman accidentally shot herself in the hand.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she’s currently in serious condition. The victim’s 5-year-old daughter was at home and witnessed the shooting, according to the Sgt. Sanders, and afterwards, the child was released into her father’s care. While police arrested the female suspect, the male suspect is still at large.
