If I told you the story of a young black man who plowed his BMW into three cars, fled the scene, and was eventually arrested after kicking a police officer in the head, perhaps you’d think something was wrong. No guns, no shooting, no threats? No obituaries, no body bags? Young black men have been killed for far less; did someone flip a switch while you were asleep and you woke up in a new world?
Don’t worry, the world didn’t suddenly become slightly more rational while you were asleep. Instead, a decidedly not-young-black-male 19-year-old named Sarah Culhane from Princeton, New Jersey was apprehended on Thursday morning after three reported hit-and-run accidents, fleeing the scene and kicking a cop in the head. Note the verb: “apprehended,” not “shot.”
WPVI Channel 6 reports that Bensalem police were called to the scene of an accident about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. They arrived just in time to see Culhane’s blue BMW, at fault in the accident, take off from the scene. The police engaged in a pursuit, but called it off to avoid a high-speed chase. Culhane struck another vehicle at an intersection, injuring one woman, and then drove away again before striking another vehicle. After the third vehicle, she finally came to rest.
That’s when police say that she bolted from her vehicle.
When the police moved to apprehend her, a struggle ensued, and she kicked one officer in the head. Both Culhane and the injured woman were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Bensalem for treatment.
Her bail was set at $750,000, and she’s currently being held at Bucks County Jail on a raft of charges that include aggravated assault and reckless driving. She’s unable to make bail at this time, but once again, the lesson appears that “rich, white, and stupid” is the best way to accomplish goals in life.
I wonder; if the cops had killed the breakout hockey star, would right-wingers be rushing to the officer’s defense? Actually, don’t bother answering that. Authoritarian bootlickers are gonna lick jackboots, whether it’s the police or their God.
At any rate, I’ve got good news for you, Sarah; I know a perfect psychologist to defend you.
