When TEAvangelicals Lie To Children (Image)

This meme was inspired by a post on imgur, which stated this is an “actual 4th grade science test from a school in South Carolina.”

TEAvangelicals can do a lot of damage nationally, as we’re all aware. But they can also really screw up a lot of lives at the state and local levels. These people should be removed from the halls of power and forced to the margins of society where they belong!

Americans Against The Tea Party is a group committed to exposing the Tea Party’s lies, violence, racism, ignorance, intolerance, bigotry, and corporatist fascist efforts to subvert our democratic process – and we are organizing to defeat Tea Party/GOP candidates on ballots everywhere.

      Interesting. Thanks!

The whole of this exercise brings up the obvious question: Why is this important to dispel the value of the age of dinosaurs? There is no fundamental reason for attacking the science … unless it’s an overt attempt to brainwash people. I suspect that is probably the case.

Why does this matter if it’s from a public or private school? Teaching children incorrect information as fact (typical American Taliban procedure, I know) allowed? There are people that believe this. For example, one of the American Taliban members that’s on the science committee has given speeches about the earth being 6,000 years old and how evolution is Satan’s lies from the pit of hell – really??? OMG, these people need to be educated, instead of clinging to their idiocy.

    This is fake.
When you are a student tin school, you would get a test or quiz, it would not say “4th Grade Science Quiz”
First off, in a class, you would just get the quiz, and it may say the topic, but it does not say the grade you are in. I think this is fake because the extra text saying “4th Grade” was put there for more shock factor. Its not real.

So, I assume that SOME of these kids go on to college. What happens to them when they reach an age where all their peers think they’re nuts if they believe this stuff?

The comment I want to make is that the gun control ‘poll’ results are BOGUS. Looks like a link to a skewed poll by the Tea Party!!!

It’s most likely an A Beka school: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Beka_Book

Generally the material is used in homeschooling, but I’ve seen a few private schools around the South, including a PK here in my town while scouting preschools, that teach purely A Beka.

I agree with several others, I seriously doubt that would be taught in a public school. That looks to be like private parochial school crap to me.

This totally happens. It happens at this church in y town in Texas. They believe the Earth is 6000 years old, that people and dinos co-existed and that the dinosaurs were killed in Noah’s flood, that the dinosaurs were harmonious with Adam and Eve until they ate from the tree of knowledge…. Goes on and on and on. And they teach this in their private school. In fact, most Christian private schools teach this. This is a VERY common belief down here. In fact, I’d say at least half the people I come into contact with regularly believe this.

  • Buzz

It was from a PRIVATE Christian Taliban school. But it apparently is real.

If this is an actual fourth grade science test from an actual public school, and I have my doubts, it should be brought to the attention of the school board IMMEDIATELY and the teacher should be suspended without pay and only allowed to teach again with the understanding that this kind of crap will not be passed off as a valid option again. This shouldn’t even be allowed to be taught to kids who are home-schooled. This is how we end up with the kind of nit wits we have on the Science Committee of the House of Representatives.

  • Michelle Harrison

This shouldn’t be taught as fact in ANY school. Not public, private, or even homeschool. I would even be appalled if this were being taught in church. Talk about ignoring scientific facts and the lack of logical thinking (dinosaurs living with humans?!?!? seriously?). No wonder America is a joke to the other 1st world countries. Just look at what passes off as acceptable.

It depends on the state. This could happen at state schools in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and North Carolina already – bills are in several other state houses like Arkansas and Tennessee that would also allow it.

      • Chris Wyskowski

…they might as well. Texas already has textbooks that say slavery never happened.

  • John Jeffrey

I have strong doubts that this is from a public school.

  • Bob Cull

If this is real it explains the ignorance I encounter so often from those born and raised in the deep south. A school that teaches this as fact does not qualify as a place of learning, it is an institution of indoctrination.
