Between the mortifyingly creepy purity balls, where daughters place their virginities in their fathers’ loving hands during a wedding-like ceremony, and the coercive and abusive practice of near-forced indoctrination found in the Evangelical world, it’s difficult to consider some sects of Christianity as anything but a dangerous cult.
Studies have shown that children raised with Jesus have difficulty discerning fact from fiction, and nothing is better example than the practice of convincing children that Jesus will deliver an anointed knockout punch if they only believe hard enough.
YouTuber RememberTheTime99 posted a compilation of children being exposed to the ritualistic practice of being “slain by the spirit.” Basically, if you’re a REAL Christian, Jesus will deliver a holy one-two punch and knock you out for a while. For most children, it is an abusive and coercive practice that can cause significant damage to those who fall under the impression that because Jesus has not made them keel over they’re going to Hell. For the more savvy ones, it is an ingenious way of catching some “Zzzs” during church.
From an early age, children are taught to unquestioningly and unthinkingly parrot the actions of their elders, driven by the hysterical adults making a show of babbling incoherently (or “speaking in tongues”), screaming, and often music. Children are taught that, no matter how insane, they must follow the herd and mimic every insane action in order to be good Christians.
The First Amendment is very important, but this has crossed from religious exercise to child abuse.
