What do the TEApublicans really think of the American people? Apparently they think that the people of Michigan at least have short memories or that they are just plain stupid. They are in Michigan this weekend for the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, where those who were most vocal just a few short years ago in opposing the bailout of the auto industry will be attending and probably prominently featured in the weekends festivities.
Let’s take a look at what a few of them had to say about it not so long ago:
[box type=”shadow”]“It seems like every other day there’s another bailout.”
Faux News 3/5/2009[/box]
[box type=”shadow”]“It could have come back more effectively…had they taken the advice of Mitt
Romney…we wasted a lot of money.”
[box type=”shadow”]“…the auto industry bailout cost lots of Americans their jobs.”
WSJ op-ed 5/10/2012[/box]
[box type=”shadow”]Q: Do you think the country would be better off today if companies like…General Motors
had been allowed to fail?
Investors Business Daily 10/6/2010[/box]
Of course they were all wrong but you will never hear that from them, they will either ignore any questions about it or tell you that they are being misquoted or taken out of context. Walker will never admit that much of that “wasted” money has already been repaid. Rove will never admit that jobs were in fact saved and Paul will say whatever he thinks you want to hear today. They are counting on a memory deficit on behalf of the people to let them get away with conveniently forgetting about the inconvenient.
In honor of the event, the Democrats have prepared the video below.
