Bacon is delicious. In fact, it’s one of the most wonderful things in the world. Unfortunately, the way the poor creature whose life is sacrificed for our dinner may be treated is a different story.
In the following video, we see the lack of reverence for the lives of these wonderful creatures who provide the “B” in your BLT. Tyson, to minimize costs, utilizes gestation crates. Breeding pigs are kept in 6.6 ft. x 2 ft enclosures for most of their lives, then moved to a slightly wider crate temporarily while they give birth–then it’s right back to the crate.
A mother will give birth 5-8 times (at an average of 2.5 litters a year) in her life before she is finally released from her misery and onto your dinner table.
Please be warned, this video is very graphic. It is advised that you not click “play” if you have a weak stomach or small children are nearby. Workers can be seen dashing piglets’ heads off the ground and cruelly leaving them to die, still struggling to breathe. You will see these monsters having fun punching, choking, kicking, cutting the tails from, and castrating these poor creatures as they squeal in agony. This awful display is an affront to all that is decent in the world.
You may have difficulty determining which group truly consists of “animals.”
WalMartCruelty.com has encouraged us to speak out against these inhumane practices. Be sure to pop by and sign their petition asking Wal Mart to buy pork from suppliers that do not employ these awful practices. Please support cruelty free food. Those of us who choose to eat meat must have the proper respect for the creatures that provide our sustenance.
