Liberals, be forewarned; the tea-drinking natives are restless again, and we could see a repeat of 2010 if we aren’t careful. While enjoying their taxpayer-funded five-week vacation, many congressional representatives are finally back in their home districts, and just like in 2010, the red states are holding townhall meetings. The purpose of these townhall meetings ostensibly is to give people a chance to interact with their congressional representative. What they really are though is a chance to roll cameras on a bunch of angry, old white people who are fed-up about Benghazi, the NSA, Obamacare, a birth certificate, an apology tour, and the list goes on and on.
It would be really, really easy to dismiss these as being nothing but political theater — because they are. But the fact is that the Tea Party relies on the propaganda they get out of these meetings to be run ad naseum on Fox News (which is of course where the clip below comes from), drilling the errant message that the “entire country hates Obama and wants a fully-Republican Congress to combat his evil agenda.”
No, they may not be yelling about things that matter in this clip. Benghazi is very obviously a CIA operation that we weren’t supposed to know much about and while we want all the answers we can get, is that really what we should be yelling about? We know now that the IRS “targeting” scandal has been mostly pomp and very little circumstantial evidence.
Still, if progressives in this country don’t show up in 2014, we’re going to be looking back on videos like this one and wondering why we didn’t see the signs way back then. If you don’t want more of the same unprecedented obstructionism, pay attention, stay vigilant and vote in 2014.
