Viacom sent Stephen Colbert a letter expressing a concern over his decision to air, during Black History Month, a cartoon depicting President Obama and the KKK teaming up to fight an alien menace. Colbert, however, aired it anyway–and it’s the funniest thing you will see for a while!
Recently we told you about two Tea Partiers who, coincidentally, were also members of the KKK (imagine that!). As Colbert points out, the pair had overcome their hatred of Jews to focus on their hatred of Muslims. Eric Feight and Scott Crawford were busted seeking funding to build a death ray to eliminate “Muslims, Muslim-related organizations and persons Crawford believed were contributing to the demise of the United States.”
Colbert wondered, given these Klan members’ willingness to team up with a group they hate against what they view as a common enemy…what would make them work with President Obama? And thus, “Laser Klan” was born. Viacom told Colbert in a letter, “We’re a little concerned because it is airing during Black History Month.”
Yes, there may be “sensitivity issues” with this, as Viacom stated–but it’s absolutely hilarious.
