A teen with Down’s Syndrome recently had his dream fulfilled when he was accepted into college.
Rion Holcombe will enter a new college program that is aimed to help teens with Down’s Syndrome learn to live on their own, as well as job training skills to help them, not just survive, but thrive on their own.
Another video posted this week featured a boy also with Down’s syndrome who was accepted into a similar program. In both cases, higher education institutions are giving an opportunity to somebody who otherwise may not have had one. Not only will these young men turn into valuable members of our society, they will do so independently. If the test pilot programs excel, the results can be duplicated throughout the country.
Watch the moment captured by Rion’s mom as he open his acceptance letter.
