Early Sunday morning, two responsible, gun-owning, Second Amendment-loving citizens decided it would be prudent to settle a dispute in the only way they know how: in the middle of a crowded New Orleans street with weapons blasting.
The men began by shooting at one another, but one of them turned and fired into the crowd. In the chaos that followed the eruption of gunfire, seven people were injured. One victim is in critical condition, while the others are stable.
The New Orleans police department has released video showing the shooters from multiple angles, showing residents scurrying for cover as the two maniacs began firing.
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, guns kill more people per capita in Louisiana than in any other state.
In April, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal signed a bill that would allow guns in bars and restaurants that serve alcohol. When he signed the bill into law he remarked, “We’re not just signing a few bills — we’re also celebrating the Sportsman’s Paradise and American values.
Apparently, “American values” means “People opening fire in a crowded street,” now.
