In the wake of the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson Missouri, British comedian Russell Brand has once again turned his sights towards Fox News, this time against Bill O’Reilly.
In regards to the protesters, O’Reilly just can’t seem to understand what all the fuss is about. Everyone should calm down because the authorities (the same ones who killed Brown and threw his still warm body in the back of an SUV) are handling it.
“We have to wait and see how the justice system handles this situation,” O’Reilly said in a recent segment before bringing on his guest, Dr. Ben Carson.
Not surprisingly, O’Reilly and Dr. Carson’s sympathies centered around the police, not Brown and his family. O’Reilly lamented that Ferguson’s African American community is laboring under the delusion that the shooting “was done for nothing, that it was a murder,” and that people simply “don’t know the facts.”
Enter Russell Brand.
“What fact can emerge?” asked Brand. “There’s no fact that can emerge that makes it alright that this keeps happening.”
“I think it’s worth pointing out at this juncture that if an unarmed policeman was shot by a black teenager, I can’t imagine Fox News giving voice to someone to say, ‘You’ve got to remember, black teenagers are people too.’” He continued. “They’d be all, ‘This is unacceptable! This is an indication of a society in decline!’”
