Rush Limbaugh castigated the Democrats for saying that a government shutdown would affect the school lunch program.
For the love of all that is holy, when will these terrorists learn and understand basic civics? Of course a federally funded program would be affected by closing down the government.
Limbaugh, who would have functioned as the village idiot in simpler times, matters because people and elected officials actually listen to him.
He began his screed by making fun of the fact that the live feed of the baby panda, a relatively new blessing bestowed on the National Zoo, will cease with a shutdown.
He mocks horror at the thought.
To reduce the damage of the actions by a handful of GOP extremists to merely affecting an online video that only a liberal could love, is insulting and mendacious.
The government closing will have devastating ramifications for millions of people. Not those in Congress who have deemed themselves “essential” and will continue to be paid.
What is occurring in the national legislative body is political terrorism. It was triggered this time by wanting to defund a program that would extend health coverage to millions. The blueprint of the law was set forth by the very conservative Heritage Foundation and was initially executed by a Republican Governor who was the Presidential nominee of this party last year.
And during times of crisis, wouldn’t it be nice to watch a baby panda?
