The first amendment guarantees your right to a platform to speak un-infringed by government authority (certain circumstances notwithstanding). It does not guarantee you a willing audience and it is not protection from criticism, as one unctuous, homophobic subway preacher out the hard way when he was challenged by “Orange Is The New Black” star Lea DeLaria.
Lea, an outspoken lesbian actress who’s received critical acclaim for her role, delivered a verbal smackdown on a subway preacher while in New York City. She was not happy with his hateful preaching; few are. She refused to let him continue, and the whole thing was caught on camera.
In the video which was obtained by TMZ, shows DeLaria telling the preacher to “get off the train:”
“You have no right! Go to another train,” DeLaria tells the preacher. “Get off this train. Other people believe other things and have every right to believe other things on this planet and in this world. We do not have to be force-fed this man’s religious beliefs. Jesus never said for you to do this — ever!”
Then, she yanks the rug out from under him: “Don’t come at me because I went to f**king Catholic school for 12 years and I know every line.”
She may have put him down for now, but we all know the obnoxious little snot is going to crucify himself before other religious homophobes, claiming that he was “bullied.” You just can’t win with some people.
