The GOP hypocrisy surrounding their poorly-conceived letter to Iran is thick, and Jon Stewart laid into that thickness brilliantly on The Daily Show last night.
Stewart attacked Republicans for their “congressional subversion” towards the White House, declaring that they’re “f*cking cuckoo!”
He then took aim at the part of the letter where GOP senators warn Iran that they may misunderstand America’s Constitution and that a nuclear deal may not survive future presidents.
“Yeah, that’s right, Ayatollah,” Stewart chided sarcastically. “In a democracy, presidents come and go, but senators stay in power forever. No matter how old, or dangerous, or spiteful, or sh*tty they are. And there’s nothing anything can do about removing them. But I guess dictators wouldn’t understand that.”
Stewart then sardonically wondered how GOP Senator Tom Cotton was able to convince other Republicans to undercut Obama.
“How did he do it?” Stewart asked. “It’s the kind of persuasive rhetoric it might take to get, let’s say, an unfixed dog to hump a pillow.”
