Jon Stewart has a talent for cutting through the malarkey — as Vice-President Joe Biden might call it — and get down to the nuts and bolts of an issue. On “The Daily Show” Tuesday night he put his skills to task at eviscerating the right-wing’s attempts to sabotage Obamacare and Senator Ted Cruz’s fake-filibuster publicity stunt that centered around the same health care reform law. He did not disappoint.
In just about seven minutes, Stewart takes Sen. Lindsey Graham to task for not living up to his reputation for hyperbolic rhetoric and decried the right-wing’s overall message against the Affordable Care Act as essentially being, “It sucks and it won’t work!” However, as Stewart lays out in the clip, the reason the GOP is convinced Obamacare will fail is because they are working as hard as they can to make sure that it does just that — fails. The end of the segment drives a stake through the heart of Cruz’s grandstanding by calling his hypocrisy for opposing Obamacare because he says it is killing jobs, and yet he supports shutting down the government and in 1995 we shut down the government and lost many thousands of jobs in the process.
