Whenever Jon Stewart and Bill O’Reilly get together, sparks are sure to fly, and Wednesday’s edition of the Daily Show treated us to a discussion on white privilege that nearly devolved into a shouting match as O’Reilly claimed that white privilege only existed when white people owned slaves, or under Jim Crow, when Phil Robertson says black people were happier.
In August, even Megyn Kelly, who thinks Jesus and Santa are real (and white!) was willing to shut down professional liemonger and racist Bill O’Reilly on the topic of white privilege. “There’s a lot of evidence behind it,” Kelly told O’Reilly. “If you look at the statistics, Bill, they are alarming.”
Stewart asked O’Reilly to admit that white privilege exists, but Bill stood firm in his belief that there used to be white privilege, but now it would be more appropriate to say that there is “Asian privilege,” because Asians make more money.
Stewart informed Bill that “white males set the system,” but O’Reilly replied that there’s “no more slavery, no more Jim Crow.”
The argument heated up, leaving one with the impression that it would come to blows if the discussion continued.
