House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) told reporters Thursday morning at a press conference that Tea Party groups have “lost all credibility.”
Boehner also accused various Tea Party groups of “misleading their followers” and in regards to the government shutdown he said that they were guilty of “pushing members into places they don’t want to be,”
These statements came on the heel of a budget deal proposed by Paul Ryan and Patty Murray and although the deal overwhelmingly passed the House as their final vote of the year, Boehner still took a stab at certain Tea Party members saying,
“When groups come out and criticize an agreement that they’ve never seen you begin to wonder just how credible those actions are,” He continued “Frankly, I think they’ve lost all credibility.”
When asked if he believed the group should stand down, he replied,
“I don’t care what they do.”
