Jimmy Kimmel is more than just another late night comedian; he’s tackled serious issues before, and he’s done it again with a new mock PSA featuring real doctors that rip into the anti-vaxx idiots.
Kimmel has dealt with anti-science idiocy and politics in the past. Last year, he invoked “God” to help him demolish creationism. Just recently, he published a skit that nailed Jeb Bush right where it hurts. Now, he’s got his sights set on the anti-vaxxers, and he’s brought along some real doctors to help him drive home how foolish and irrational they are.
The doctors in the PSA sum up the opinion of many in the “pro-vaccination” (read: rational) camp well: One says “. . . I can’t believe we have to make this PSA,” and another announces, “I thought we settled this in the 50s.”
I thought we did to, but old memes die hard, and zombie memes apparently don’t die at all.

This, of course, provoked a response from the anti-vaxxers — and what a response it was. From vicious verbal assaults to strings of illiterate vulgarities, it was near-identical to the screeds by religious conservatives when they’re confronted with secularists who force them to share public property. The major difference, of course, was the absence of “God bless you” in many of the tweets that Kimmel received.
In response to the tweets, Kimmel devoted a segment of his show to tearing them apart.
