Jennifer Lawrence has never been one to bite her tongue, especially when it comes to equality.
In a recent interview with Vogue, the actress revealed her reasoning for voting Democrat:
“I was raised a Republican, but I just can’t imagine supporting a party that doesn’t support women’s basic rights.”
This isn’t the first time Lawrence has spoken out against conservatives.
In October of this year, she wrote an essay that was published in Lena Dunham’s feminist newsletter, Lenny Letter.
That essay touched on the issue of gender equality, namely equal pay between sexes.
It had come to light that Lawrence was paid less than her “American Hustle” co-stars, who all happened to own penises.
Lawrence was embarrassed because she felt she had failed as a negotiator, and basically allowed herself be ripped off.
She blamed her reasoning for not playing hardball on “an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight. I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.'”
Her more recent remarks are directed right at the GOP’s war on women, saying:
“It’s 2015 and gay people can get married and we think that we’ve come so far, so, yay! But have we? I don’t want to stay quiet about that stuff.”
Lawrence also mentioned Kim Davis, saying the bigot clerk is a “lady who makes me embarrassed to be from Kentucky.”
“Don’t even say her name in this house, all those people holding their crucifixes, which may as well be pitchforks, thinking they’re fighting the good fight. I grew up in Kentucky. I know how they are.”
It’s wonderful to know that not everyone is Hollywood is a shallow idiot.
Keep it up, lady.
