You have to give the TEApubs credit for inventiveness. Of course, what else would you expect from people who have to invent facts to support the unsupportable. After four and a half years of hammering on the crackpot theory that President Obama was born in Kenya and therefore not eligible to be POTUS, they are offering some pretty creative justifications for Cruz’s predicament of being born in Canada.
One Cruz supporter says that she still believes that Obama is not qualified to be president because she believes he was born in Kenya, yet when she was asked how she could still support Cruz to make a bid for the White House, she acknowledged that the circumstances of their births was similar but that she doesn’t really consider Canada to be “foreign soil.” One has to wonder if she feels the same lack of “foreignness” about Mexico, after all it too is a part of North America.
Donald Trump or “The Donald,” one of the most vocal and insistent birthers of them all, simply sidestepped the question saying that he had heard that “someone” (Cruz perhaps?) had said that Cruz had “maybe” been born in Canada, but that it really wasn’t a question for him. He was obviously never that magnanimous with the President.
So far though, it appears that the general direction that his supporters have chosen to take is to simply ignore it, say nothing and hope that it will go away on its own. They don’t want to have to stop and think of a way to reconcile what they have been saying about President Obama. The circumstances of the president’s birth differ from the circumstances of Cruz’s birth only in that the president was indeed born in the U.S. and Cruz was not.
In all fairness both men are–according to the Constitution–natural-born citizens since both were born to a parent who was a citizen at the time. I myself have a niece and two nephews who have never lived in the U.S. nor were they born here, yet they are natural-born citizens and have U.S. passports because my sister is a U.S. citizen. The real reason that Cruz is not qualified to be President is the fact that he has shown an utter contempt for our system of government. How could anyone consider voting for a man to lead the government when his announced goal is the destruction of the very government over which he wishes to reside?
