Bill Maher ended his Friday night show by ripping into the Republican Party for their “Zombie Lies;” citing the repeated massively dishonest distrotions regarding Obamacare, climate change, Benghazi, and others, and slammed the Republicans for continuing to lying about these issues, even after the lies are debunked.
Maher began the segment by saying:
Finally, New Rule, now that there’s been an uproar over all the neocons who lied about the Iraq war with no consequences, someone must tell me why there isn’t a similar uproar over all the Republicans who lied about Obamacare with no consequences?
It’s been four years since the bill passed. Has anybody come across even one death panel? The next liberal to tell a Republican “You’re entitled to an opinion but not your own facts” should really just admit they’ve never seen Fox News.
Maher hammered Republicans for repeatedly telling the same lies, which are “out there, roaming the countryside” and “looking for brains, like Dick Cheney.” These lies, neither alive nor dead (like Dick Cheney) refuse to stay buried, and will often appear where you least (or most) expect them.
Maher points out the there’s an inherent double-standard about how political parties are treated when they lie: Obama got hammered repeatedly for saying “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” and eventually stopped saying it and admitted he was wrong. Meanwhile, the same can’t be said for Dick Cheney, who, according to Maher, hasn’t even bothered to update his lies about the Iraq War. Somehow, Cheney gets a free pass, when Obama does not.
Maher went down a whole list of “zombie lies,” and how they’re handed down from one group to the next, eventually reaching the “stupidest people on Earth,” leading to the inevitable moment when Donald Trump tweets about them.
