On Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill spoke with David Avella (R) of GOPAC, Republican poller Kristen Soltis, and former Vermont governor Howard Dean (D). The menu for the evening was calling out the TEApublicans for their ridiculous antics. To start, Dave Avella said that Obama had done some “name-calling” to the Republican party… when asked what that name calling was, Avella said, “Well, he talked about ‘right-wing’ Republicans!” To which Maher replied, “…That’s a name call!?” Once again, the radical right taking every possible offense to anything they can find… even when there’s nothing wrong with it.
From there, the talk moved on to the president’s inaugural speech. Kristen Soltis talked about how the president took the republican’s “you didn’t build that” campaign, and turned it right back around on them. Governor Dean said that the theme was “equal rights for every person in the country’, and then stated that, while the speech may not have been partisan, it was most assuredly American, and that it was “about time the president stood up to all the crazy crap on the right wing”.
Running out of ridiculous things to talk about, Avella then stated some ill facts about how Obama hasn’t created enough jobs (I know I’ve heard that SOMEWHERE before…), which Maher and Dean cut down quickly, saying it “just isn’t true”, and made the common sense argument that the Republicans continue to look at net job growth (job growth since the employment rates began to fall) rather than looking at total jobs created since the unemployment rates leveled out.
The menu moved on to Benghazi, talking about Hillary Clinton’s disgust at the crap being spewed from Rand Paul, saying he was “just a bunch of horseshit he saw on TV”. This argument is highly valid, given Hillary’s shock at the questions from Paul asking if we were smuggling weapons into Turkey from Libya. This nonsense was spewed forth by none other than Mr. Glenn Beck himself, former captain and acting general of the ridiculous.
In a final attempt to make any sense whatsoever, Avella said that there are crackpots in the Democratic party as well, to which Dean outraged, “you have 49% crackpots in your party, and we only have about 10!” Ouch!
