Self-described Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders is at it again! Not satisfied to just be happy with simply being the only person ever elected to Congress who identifies as a Socialist, Sanders has once again decided to stick his nose in right wingers’ business.
Many (including those on the fringe of the right wing) describe Democrats and Republicans as being “the same” in their inability or unwillingness to actually endeavor for more prosperity for everyone–including the middle and working classes. While this is true in that neither party has adequately done its job in making things better for “the rest of us,” we can’t pretend that one party is not worse than the other–and we can’t pretend that right wing politicians have not done everything possible to obstruct any progress in helping society’s disenfranchised.
We can’t pretend that Republicans (and especially the Tea Party fringe) have not done everything in their power to dismantle and destroy the social programs that make this country great while at the same time granting huge favors to large corporations. We can’t pretend that this one party has not endeavored to take away worker’s rights and benefits–and Senator Sanders sums it up perfectly in less than a minute.
As the Vermont Senator explains, the Republican Party is “at war with the middle and working class of this country.” The House of Representatives, according to Sanders, is dominated by right wing extremists who “want more tax breaks for the wealthiest people in this country.” Sanders says that they are prepared to “cut or eliminate virtually every important program passed in the last 80 years that protect working families and the middle class.”
Sanders urges us to plant our flag–to come together and oppose these destructive and oppressive ideologies. Sanders says we should work to expose these terrorists who function solely as shills for billionaires, upon whose money they have become dependant–people who “in many ways are at war with the middle class and the working class of this country.”
And he’s right.
–and the Vermont Senator sums it up perfectly in his newly-released video commentary entitled “Plant Your Flag.”
