Earlier this month at a banquet hosted by Janet Porter for a group that calls itself “Faith 2 Action” and was attended by such responsible citizens as Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the couple has 19 kids and intends to keep pumping them out for as long as they are physically able (overpopulation be damned!), Arkansas State Senator Jason Rapert spoke, proudly telling the attendees that he cares more about what God thinks than the people who voted him into office.
[box type=”shadow” ]“There’s only one vote that matters and that’s when I stand before the Lord at the judgment seat. It’s more important to do what is right by God than it is to please those that would rather have me talk about pro-life, but not really do much about pro-life.”[/box]
Rapert is no stranger to controversy, he has in the past attempted to block the grant of federal money to the Arkansas Planned Parenthood because he believed that they were involved in illegal practices in Iowa and Oklahoma — although there was never any evidence to substantiate the claim. At a Tea Party rally in 2011, he said,
[box type=”shadow” ]“I hear you loud and clear, Barack Obama. You don’t represent the country that I grew up with. And your values is not going to save us. We’re going to take this country back for the Lord. We’re going to try to take this country back for conservatism. And we’re not going to allow minorities to run roughshod over what you people believe in!”[/box]
Rapert is the founder and President of Holy Ghost Ministries, inc. and should, perhaps, confine himself to that business rather than attempting to inflict his religious views on the rest of the nation. He’s certainly not fit to be a representative of the people when he openly admits that he doesn’t care what they want because he is going to act only on what he believes God wants. Like that’s not a recipe for disaster.
