In a one-on-one interview with Bill Maher on his HBO show Real Time this Friday night, Ann Coulter gave her usually skewed take on some of the GOP’s current problems; party infighting, illegal immigration — and the fact that Ted Cruz’s father is apparently a birther. Maher mentioned Coulter’s recent calls for GOP party unity, pointing to the fact that she herself has been a vocal critic of other Republicans who don’t tow the line on certain issues.
One of those Republicans Coulter has attacked is Marco Rubio, mainly over his support of amnesty. But Maher was quick to point out that the GOP idol Ronald Reagan was one of the biggest amnesty supporters in party history — a fact that Coulter meagerly brushed aside.
“Wasn’t the guy who did the most for amnesty your boyfriend Ronald Reagan?” Maher asked.
“Well, he also signed the most liberal abortion bill in the country when he was governor of California,” Coulter replied. “I don’t accept appeals to authority just because Reagan did something.”< Probably the most contentious part of the discussion was when it turned to Ted Cruz’s father, whose recent comments saying that Barack Obama should “go back to Kenya” has sparked speculation as to whether or not he’s a birther. Coulter made the somewhat unfounded assumption that Cruz’s dad simply made a “joke,” to which Maher incredulously replied, “Are you serious?” Coulter asserted that “Kenya references always kill” and are a good go-to when looking for laughs from a conservative crowd. Sure, Ann. Watch the Real Time segment in the video below:
