So far, we’ve only managed to hear about incidences of couples being denied marriage licenses despite the fact the Supreme Court ruled gay marriage was legal.
However, this couple recorded their experience in Morehead, KY in Rowan County when they were denied a marriage license because the clerk claimed she was Christian (disobeying both SCOTUS and the KY governor’s ruling). The couple also presented copies of the rulings. They were also told they could not record. There were no signs regarding this.
The clerk is heard saying:
“We know what it reads sir, but we’re not issuing any licenses, sir. We’re just not going to at this time. That’s our choice. I’m a Christian.”
NO! You do not have a choice! You are blatantly disobeying and breaking the law. If you are Christian enough to deny a couple who have been together 17 years a marriage license, then you are Christian enough to go to jail for your religion.
