When Rep. Mo Brooks(R-AL) said that Democrats are waging a war on white people, he really struck a nerve with some.
“This is a part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party. And the way in which they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else. It’s part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008, continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things. Well that’s not true,” Brooks said in an interview with FOX News’ Laura Ingraham.
Rather than own up to his ignorance, Brooks defended his statement that white people have it tough because of President Obama. He says that “race is immaterial.” You know, as long as we don’t touch white people.
“It is wrong when Steve Israel (D-NY) says the Republican base is animated by racism. It is wrong when Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) says it is racist when the Republican House passes legislation to secure America’s borders. It doesn’t make any difference if you’re a white American, a black American, a Hispanic American, an Asian American, or if you are a woman or a man. Every single demographic group is hurt by falling wages and lost jobs. Democrats have to demagogue on this and try and turn it into a racial issue, which is an emotional issue, rather than a thoughtful issue. If it becomes a thoughtful issue, then we win and we win big. And they lose and they lose big. As best I can in the time limitation I have, I try to make sure people understand what the Democrats are doing by raising race as an issue every chance they get. It’s much like the Congressmen during the immigration debate on Friday: Democrat after Democrat was talking racism and race. The motivation for them doing so was to try to cause block voters of race to vote solely on skin color. I’m one of those who does not support racism and I believe everyone should be treated equally as American citizens. It’s high time folks started calling out the Democrats for their racial appeals. Race is immaterial and everybody ought to be treated the same.”
While the stupid part of America cheered his idiotic claim that white people have sooooo many problems, the rest of us cringed at this monumental display of ignorance and bigotry. Twitter, however, had a bit of fun with it.
Twitter users took the #WarOnWhites to the next level and outlined the many ways in which oh-so-oppressed caucasians are facing hardship–and it’s hilarious!
Of course, Brooks’ supporters showed up, as well:
It’s time to end the war on whites. It’s been going on for too long.
Sorry, is our sarcasm showing?
