Well, we all knew it would happen! Donald Sterling’s lifetime ban has triggered an explosion of stupid from that crowd. You know the one–the people who wave around pocket copies of the Constitution without ever having read or understood it? Yes, them.
When NBA commissioner Adam Silver responded to public outcry and ensured that Sterling, who was caught on tape telling his girlfriend she may sleep with black guys but not bring them to games, would no longer tarnish the NBA brand with further racist rants by enacting a lifetime ban (complete with a huge fine) against the bigoted basketball team owner, the same sort of people who voraciously defended Cliven Bundy’s “wondering” if “Negroes” would be better off as slaves spoke up in Sterling’s defense.
Of course, the Constitution says nothing about corporations responding to the free market and removing an employee who is detrimental to a particular brand–like the NBA–but that has not stopped the hordes of racist-apologists from speaking their (if this term is even remotely appropriate) minds via Twitter:
Of course, not everyone on the internet is stupid. People who have read the Constitution, a book about the Constitution, or just passed a grade school level social studies class, laid the smack down on the racists masquerading as First Amendment advocates.
