While Rafael Cruz’s idiot son may be unwilling to say if he will support Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader if Republicans manage to take the Senate, he knows one thing (and as we all know, “one thing” is pretty impressive for Ted Cruz): If Republicans win, Obama’s going down!
Cruz said that his top priority would not be jobs, the economy, education, or the numerous people who face economic distress. He has bigger things in mind: like yet another tired call for Obama’s impeachment.
While he shied away from using the dreaded “i-word,” Cruz assured that his main focus would be non-stop, money-wasting hearing on President Obama, “looking at the abuse of power, the executive abuse, the regulatory abuse, the lawlessness that sadly has pervaded this administration.”
This is hardly an original idea. The Pensito Review in August highlighted more than 40 calls for the President’s impeachment on the part of Republicans.
If you think he’s one-note, however, think again. Cruz has other big ideas, like the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Cruz says Republicans should pursue every means possible to repeal Obamacare,” pushing repeal legislation through the Senate. If President Obama vetoes, he says that Republicans will pick the Affordable Care Act apart piece by piece.
Rep. Peter King warns those on the Right about listening to Cruz, however. . “He is the last one we should listen to,” King said in an interview Sunday. “Don’t forget — a year ago he brought Republicans over the cliff.”
With Joni Ernst and other extremists leading in the polls, Cruz may not succeed in impeaching Obama, or in repealing the popular Affordable Care Act — but he can help make life awful for Americans.
I guess that’s something.
