Thom Hartmann: “I’ve Found Reagan’s Welfare Queen!” (POWERFUL VIDEO)

Pathological liar, incompetent buffoon, and traitorous war-criminal, Ronald Reagan, created the “welfare queen” myth when he said, “She has eighty names, thirty addresses, twelve Social Security cards and is collecting veteran’s benefits on four non-existing deceased husbands. And she is collecting Social Security on her cards. She’s got Medicaid, getting food stamps, and she is collecting welfare under each of her names. Her tax-free cash income is over $150,000.”

Of course there never was such a person.  This was the beginning of the stereotyping of the poor, needy, and working-poor in America, especially among minorities.  TEApublicans have wanted to kill every aspect of The New Deal since it started.  But who are the real welfare queens?

One of our favorite liberals, Thom Hartmann, explains in this amazing commentary.

Americans Against The Tea Party is a group committed to exposing the Tea Party’s lies, violence, racism, ignorance, intolerance, bigotry, and corporatist fascist efforts to subvert our democratic process – and we are organizing to defeat Tea Party/GOP candidates on ballots everywhere.

  1. I agree with you Elizabeth Bosley, but, even if they raise the minimum wage to $11, after taxes they’d probably still qualify for food stamps because rent, utilities, food and medical are so staggeringly high.

  2. i worked a GE for three years when my kids were little they kept me at minimum wage no benifits.when i complained they told me that since i was low income and got medical card for sons they got kickback from government for having me work there i had to find a different job it is big buisness.

  3. Just one more reason I will not shop at Walmart.

  4. Please don’t start articles with sentences like “Pathological liar, incompetent buffoon, and traitorous war-criminal, Ronald Reagan”, that’s the exact same crap that the TeaParty like to spout about Obama. It isn’t helpful.

  5. If Walmart went out of business, China’s economy would collapse.

  6. I’ve been saying this for years. If you can not afford to pay your employees a living wage, then you should not be in business. People can have a one man business that only affects them, but to expect someone else to earn your living for you is wrong. I can not stand it when I hear them say paying more will put them out of business. If you employ someone, you have a responsibility to to treat them fairly.
The Walmarts of this world should be made to pay people enough so that they do not need to be on assistance. If they make the kind of profits they do and let their employees live below poverty then they should be taxed to make up the difference.
