As Senator Tail Gunner Ted Cruz rambled on in the Senate for 21 hours with his faux-filibuster of Obamacare, Thom Hartman explained exactly why it is that Ted and his fellow TEApublicans are so frightened at the prospect of the new health care law.
Checking in on the audio from the Senate chambers every so often, Hartman laid it out clearly with language that anyone could understand. “The best fund raiser they’ve ever had,” was how he described it.
Right wing organizations are rallying behind them and sending out solicitations to everyone on their mailing lists, imploring them to help fund the fight against Obamacare. Most don’t know what the law consists of — they only know that Obama wants it and since they hate him, they hate the law. As a result, they get out the checkbook to help fund a fight that they are already funding through taxes since Ted doesn’t have to pay in order to speak in the Senate.
“Half of Obamacare has been the law for three years it’s been phasing in, piece by piece,” Hartman said. “But on the first of the year, the exchanges begin and it’s pretty much done. They’re afraid that Americans are going to like Obamacare and they’re not going to want it taken away.”
