The Keller (Texas) School District Board may take action against board member Jo Lynn Haussmann on Monday, after she got caught posting a vile and foolish outburst on social media. According to local news outlet KHOU, the post took issue with the Southlake election results:
Do you realize because so FEW voters took the time and responsibility to VOTE in municipal elections — YOU NOW HAVE A “MUSLIM” on the City Council!!! What a SHAME!!!!!
Haussman was referring to Dr. Shahid Shafi, whom Community Impact Newspaper reports handily beat incumbent Martin Schelling for a seat on the City Council with 1,727 votes to Shelling’s 1,593 . All uses of caps, exclamation points, and quotation marks are her doing. As expected, Haussmann promptly removed the post and issued an apology after people took issue with the ignorant remark.
Her backpedaling, however, proved ineffective, and it is now being decided if there is room for such intolerance on the board. The Keller School District Board of Trustees has called a closed executive session Monday to decide Haussmann’s punishment.
Regardless of the outcome, many have voiced their distaste, and are calling on her to resign. Others, meanwhile, have expressed support for her and her hateful remarks — by holding a prayer rally.
