Thomas Washburn, a Kindergarten teacher at Adams Elementary School in Mesa, AZ was arrested Wednesday after he forcibly removed a six-year-old student’s shirt and left her standing half-naked in front of her classmates for ten minutes.
According to police, Washburn became upset and began to shout at the class. The victim became upset and hid her face in her shirt. This classy gent ordered the “developmentally delayed” girl to take her face out of her shirt and, when she did not capitulate to his demands he removed her shirt himself. She was left, crying and scared, naked from the waist up, in front of her classmates for ten minutes as the “teacher” explained to the rest of the class the importance of wearing their clothes properly. Washburn eventually returned her clothing.
When the victim’s mother arrived to pick her daughter up from school, Washburn told her what he had done to her little girl. This may be shocking, but she was not one hundred percent pleased with his actions. She immediately contacted the principal’s office, then police.
Washburn was booked for one count of child abuse and one count of indecent exposure, but detectives added another 24 counts of indecent exposure on Thursday morning–one for each student present. However, he was released from jail after the judge found grounds for only one charge.
