Ally Batista is a high school senior and cheerleader who must take the SAT exam this Saturday to be able to apply for early admission into college.
Her dream is to attend Purdue University to major in both computer science and international business.
The SAT exam coincides with a cheerleading event and since Ally has what is called “two strikes,” this absence will have her booted off the squad for three weeks.
The student, who was Homecoming Queen, earned her first black mark by appearing in a school play that conflicted with a cheerleading activity.
The second one came from attending a sports banquet with her boyfriend.
After Ally’s mother met with the coach and a vice-principal, the suspension remained in place. The coach stated through emails that Ally’s removal was not punishment against taking the requisite test for college admission, but reiterated that all had to follow the stated “three strikes” policy of the cheerleading squad.
Seriously girls, this school has nothing against book learnin’ — just rules are rules.
Good luck Ally with your dream of attending college in Indiana.
Give me an “S,” an “A,” and a “T!”
What’s that spell?
