A Texas man who had recently been released from prison shot his wife and stepson in the head after the female in question had the audacity to confront him about his drinking.
After she was shot, his wife played dead on the bedroom floor. The woman’s thirty-year-old son went outside to call 911, but was shot by his stepfather upon reentering the house.
Detectives say that the gunman then ended his own life.
Police have released few details, but neighbors say that loud disputes are common in that house. One woman described it as “emotional” because the shooting happened in her neighborhood but unsurprising, given the people involved.
“Because of the history and the conflict with them arguing all the time, this could happen,” said neighbor Lalo Duran.
Texas has some of the most lax gun laws in the United States, and is home to a number of horrific and senseless shootings. Last year, a white middle-aged man shot an eight-year-old African American boy in the face while he was playing tag, for instance.
Open Carry advocates that plague the state of Texas repeatedly push for even looser gun laws, completely ignoring or dismissing entirely any and all examples of gun violence that do not fit their narrative of firearms’ divinity. Of course, Open Carry Texas has no issues with threatening women with violence. “Gun Rights” advocates spend a considerable amount of time threatening to release concerned women’s personal information to the masses, as well–or actually doing it.
Both the mother and son, fortunately, are expected to survive the attack.
