Our wonderful leader, Barack Obama, showed his selfless side when he served homeless and at risk vets a lovely turkey dinner yesterday.
Alongside his wife and teenage daughters, the president dished out turkey and gravy at Friendship Place Homeless Center in Washington.
The first lady was in charge of the vegetables, while Sasha and Malia served the mashed potatoes and stuffing.
On a day when a president cruising through his final year in office could have indulged in his own family, Mr. Obama decided to help those less fortunate.
Earlier that day, the president pardoned “Abe” the turkey during the traditional turkey pardon that takes place every year.
Obama mentioned taking “some of the less fortunate turkey brothers” to give out to the homeless and at-risk veterans.
Standing in the Rose Garden of the White House, President Obama said this:
“It’s not only of the spirit of giving during this holiday season, but our national obligation to make sure all those who serve and sacrifice for our country have a place to call home. My administration considers this one of our top priorities, making sure that we’re bringing about the reality of zero homelessness for our veterans.”
