A movie to be released next month by Holy Moly Films depicts a group of teens locked inside a church overnight who are terrorized by a demon — which one of them inadvertently brought in with him in a dirty magazine.
The movie, The Lock In, freely borrows from the 1999 film The Blair Witch Project which was a fictional film presented as a documentary.
The movie makes use of a hand-held camera to give the feel of an actual documentary. The website for the film goes so far as to say that the parents of the teens involved have hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit against the church.
According to a press release from the producers:
“the demon is a metaphor for the true damage pornography can have in the lives of youth. The producers of the film felt that it was important to tell a Christian story about real issues, but to keep the images family friendly so anyone could be entertained without fear of exposure to questionable pictures.”
