Republicans may say that they aren’t planning to impeach the President–after all, the talk of impeachment is just a scam invented by Democrats to raise money and get people to the polls, according to John Boehner.
Recently, Steve King (R-IA) said that he is not pushing for impeachment. However, if President Obama “continues to break the law” he will back impeachment proceedings. In fact, he’s so against the idea that on Sunday he refused to even use the “I-word” in his veiled called for…that one thing.
ThinkProgress reports that, for King, the last straw will be if President Obama listens to John Boehner’s hypocritical call for executive action to fix the border crisis.
“I think Congress has to sit down, have a serious look at the rest of this constitution, and that includes that ‘i’ word that we don’t want to say,” King continued, explaining that executive actions would trigger impeachment talk. “And I only say that now on this program because I want to encourage the president, ‘Please don’t put don’t put America into a constitutional crisis.'”
“Where would we draw the line otherwise?” King asked. “If that’s not enough to bring that about, then I don’t know what would be,” he said. “We’ve never seen anything in this country like a president that says, “I’m going to make up all immigration law that I choose, and I’m going to drive this thing regardless of the resistance in Congress.'”
King did not voice any of his own solutions to the border crisis, though some right-wingers have suggested mine fields to ‘splode border-crossing Central American children and shooting refugee kids, leaving their corpses at the border. Others have organized groups to hunt brown people. You know, the compassionate approach.
