What has the Left been saying for weeks? It’s the Tea Party’s fault that we’re on the brink of another economic collapse due to the government shutdown and the looming battle over the debt ceiling. Everyone who isn’t delusional is well aware of this fact. Well now we have even more proof, as noted on ThinkProgress.
House Republican Greg Walden of Oregon reportedly told a group of Republican Donors that, “We have to do this because of the Tea Party. If we don’t, these guys are going to get primaried and they are going to lose their primary.”
That’s right folks. The chairman of the Right’s campaign committee admitted to donors that they would not be pursuing this course of action if it were not for the Teapublicans. The problem is that although gerrymandering is technically illegal, the laws against it are never enforced. Therefore, even though it is ruining this country, there is not much that can be done about it.
In House districts all over Red states the electoral competitions aren’t between two sides, but rather between two people trying to “out-conservative” each other. So while people like Bachmann, Paul, and Cruz continue to try and point the finger elsewhere, and threaten the well-being of the nation in order to maintain control over their increasingly extremist districts, the rest of us suffer for their beliefs.
