There’s a new conservative website that’s slowly begun to “seep into the edges of the conservative ecosystem as a place for news,” former staffer for the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Co-founder of Media Group of America, Burt Musser stated.
Strikingly similar to the more recognized website, Upworthy, Independent Journal Review focuses on framing, as opposed to reporting stories. The real difference is ijreview.com is determined to twist certain stories into conservative right-wing propaganda, as opposed to relaying truth. It goes well with other Tea Party attempts to keep the echo-chamber as air tight as possible, like their versions of Facebook, Tea Party Community, and Wikipedia, Conservapedia.
“We don’t have a traditional masthead model,” said Musser. “We’re looking for relevant, timely, and quality content to serve our audience.”
With recent headlines such as “This Teen Thought He Could Knockout an Innocent Victim. Then He Learned About the 2nd Amendment,” See the Compelling Gun Company Ad Rejected by the NFL – After it Ran Gun Control Ads Last 2 Years and “Did You Squee When New Pope Attacked ‘Unfettered Capitalism’? Might as Well Celebrate Global Poverty While You’re At It,” the IJR is using a marketing maneuver that intrigues the right-wing ideologue audience to click and view videos based on a twist of realities.
“We’re presenting stories for every American to see in a way they’re more likely to click and share,” Co-Founder Alex Skatell said. “This helps because people who don’t care as much about politics can still stay informed through engaged friends.”
So, basically if you believe that President Obama is a Kenyan, socialist, communist, tyrannical dictator, Constitution-hating despot — or any combination of those — you will love the Independent Journal Review.
