Have you ever got the feeling while posting something on Facebook, that nobody cares what you have to say or think?
Whether it’s true or not, congratulations, you have just displayed more self-awareness than Congressman Steve King.
The Congresscritter from Iowa hates brown people; his hate is the stuff of legend. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he got headlined for an anti-immigration rally. Recall that last July, King took to the airwaves to smear 99% of immigrate children as drug mules, telling his audience that:
kids that were brought into this country by their parents unknowing that they were breaking the law. And [immigration reform supporters] will say to me and others that we have to do something about the 11 million, and some of them were valedictorians. […] It’s true in some cases, but they aren’t all valedictorians, they weren’t all brought in by their parents. For every one that’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there that they weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.
With immigration back in the news, and immigrate children attacked from all angles in the right-wing media, King decided that it was necessary to remind the world how much he hates brown people by hosting his own rally in his home district of Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Saturday.
So surely, with the financial backing of his hateful coalition, as well as the right-wing propaganda machine to promote and market the rally, there would be a massive crowd — especially given King’s red district:
