Tea Party “Truthers” have decided that Fox News is just too Liberal after the station’s coverage of Benghazi. A 3-day boycott was organized to protest what these truthers have labeled as “turning to the left” from their once favored media source. Much like the birther movement, the truthers have a belief that was fueled by conspiracy theories and are now positive that the government is attempting to subvert their ideology with facts.
The marketers over at the Daily Beast, who pretend to be journalists, covered the reactions of the Teabaggers who felt disillusioned by Fox News’ inability to expose a grand conspiracy. And who better to sum up the attitudes of the truthers but a birther? One of the more vocal bloggers (Stan Hjerlied) who starred as the dog from the movie UP…. wait… sorry… no, that’s wrong. TEA PARTY not the dog from UP! (Jeez, I keep swapping those out so easily). Well, anyway this particular birther gave a clear look into the mind of your average TEApublican.
I used to have it on all day long [Fox News], and I probably watched maybe six hours last week,” he said. “The more I looked at it, I have come to the conclusion that Fox is not as fair and balanced as I thought. They shade the truth also.
The “boycott” was an odd attempt to coerce their media source to report what they wanted to hear. You know… bashing Liberals, exposing Americans as Communists, declaring the government is an evil force out to take their freedoms, bullying gays, letting women report misogynist stories about other women, etc, etc. What these truthers are upset about is the “truth” being replaced with facts. If the facts don’t equal the truth that has been so hammered into a group that still believes Obama is from Kenya, then the facts are obviously wrong. Teabaggers don’t want facts, they want the Drudge Report and Breitbart to tell them what Obama is thinking… because everyone knows that Alex Jones and those like him can read the minds of “The Left” (which is usually pronounced like one would spit out fly that had landed in their mouth).
Hjerlied has been encouraging more of his fellow blind reactionaries to get away from all media that doesn’t fit their narrative. While some of us tend to turn off our brains when journalists start saying “they think” or “they believe”, the Tea Party truthers are adamant about only listening when the Op-Ed narratives are invoked. Hjerlied commented:
If I want news, I go to Breitbart News and Drudge and I can find all the news I need, very quickly
AATTP prides themselves for exposing facts gleaned from other journalists and various reports, but we don’t consider ourselves “journalists.” We add our opinions along with those facts to expose the insanity presented to us from this Teabagger disease that has infected our country. Sure, we go to the published non-partisan reports just like we dive into the various publications who came up with insane opinions on events in society. We don’t need a third party in politics, that would only grow government larger and get even less done for the majority of Americans. The Tea Party is attempting to validate themselves as THE Conservative movement and anything that strays off of their narrative should be labeled with the word ‘Left’, ‘Liberal’, ‘Communist’, ‘Socialist’, etc. Essentially they are a 3rd party who fully embraces McCarthyism, but doesn’t have the clout to push around their weight and don’t have a freshly nuked Japan to dip their narrative into the majority of society.
So what is next? Birthers were going nowhere, and the Truther movement hinges on public facts which also are too easily disputed. I am hoping that there is a Girther movement soon. The Girther movement will be the day that every Teapublican protests skinny people by attempting to gain weight in spite of Liberal views on health. They will hold up fried foods on sticks instead of protest signs. They will have conspiracy theories that revolve around the government giving people diabetes and making public seats smaller to thwart their girth. And where will it all lead to?…
