Since taking the majority in the West Clermont School District in Ohio, three members have been raising the eyebrows–and blood pressures–of parents, teachers, fellow board members, and the community in general by enacting destructive policies and engaging in backroom discussions, in apparent violation of state law.
Recently, the Teabagging Trio attempted to replace the district’s legal counsel without any prior discussion or vetting process, at an increased cost of approximately $15,000 per year. Their chosen lawyer specializes in union busting, rather than education. After backlash and revelations that many of their actions were actually illegal, board President Tina Sanborn, Vice President Mark Merchant, and board member Jim Lewis dropped their proposal.
An AATTP reader, just to show us some of the problems with which residents deal on a regular basis, sent us a video of a February 1 West Clermont School Board Workshop. In the video, Jim Lewis explains what, exactly, is wrong with the district’s kids. At high school level, the district is ranked in the bottom 50% of the state.
According to Lewis, the problem is single moms. “A single mom doesn’t cut it for her or her children. If you want to succeed you get your education first, then you get married, then you have children.”
