Tea Party Rep. Farenthold To Disabled Vets Hurt By GOP Shut-Down: ‘You have to Make Sacrifices!’

Congressman Blake Farenthold (R- Texas via every fast food restaurant in the state) told veterans about to lose their disability checks due to the government shutdown, that they would have to make sacrifices.

Because goodness knows that former soldiers receiving disability haven’t already made extreme sacrifices. For this country. To keep it free.

Let us quote the Congressman since this statement cannot be paraphrased

“I feel like my mandate when I was elected was to go reduce the size of government, lower taxes, and increase freedom, and freedom isn’t free, and sometimes you have to make a small sacrifice to move forward with what you’re after,” Farenthold said.

Farenthold, who appears to have not sacrificed anything ever- except the risk of diabetes and heart disease- has been serving in the Congress for all of two years. And yet feels quite comfortable in stopping major parts of the federal government from functioning.

In fact, the corpulent Congressman from Corpus Christi is quite comfortable speaking on behalf of all the American citizens not just the ones in his gerrymandered sinkhole of a district.

He told a reporter that folks are upset about NSA spying and of course, Benghazi, not inre a bunch of newbie elected officials taking the country hostage for 13 days.

Everyone read this and remember. Showboats like Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz were confronted by veterans last Sunday. The former military folks, who came to D.C. to protest memorials being closed, told the Tea Party people they were in fact to blame, saying, “The Republicans closed the government. The Republicans closed the government. You’re an idiot.”

What sacrifices has Representative Blake Farenthold made for this country?

Hmmm. It looks like Farenthold could afford to sacrifice a few bites of food and a few pounds.

Be kind to the right wing, Teabagger, Obamahatter, all-liberals-are-socialists, the ACA is the work of Satan trolls on this sight. If it wasn’t for the reactions/ responses they get on threads like this they’d have no way to validate their pathetic FOX echo chamber existences.

I’m no fan of Farenthold and hope he gets voted out. That said, I am basing my opinion on his policies and actions, not his weight. I think it’s disgusting that Barbara Friedland chose to make an issue of his weight and find that every bit as low and insulting as I do people making sexist comments about Hillary Clinton and questioning whether she can be politician and a grandmother. Let’s make the criticism about policies, not appearance or gender. Fat shaming isn’t acceptable.

I tried to watch your video but after the first 30 seconds i realized it was so wrong there was no reason to keep watching. According to your video Obama wants to destroy our economy and our government, which is funny because the DOW has never been higher, the deficit is lower than when Obama came into office, as is unemployment and foreclosures. Housing sales are up and as are car sales. By every measurable our economy is STRONGER than when he took office, so if he was trying to destroy our economy as you claim he is so bad at it we should elect him again so it keep sgrowing stronger. You sir, are an idiot.

I live in his district and did NOT vote for him. He is a poor little rich boy with a double chin and an inheritance of millions. He would never have been elected had the GOP under the despicable Tom DeLay not gerrymandered his district into existence, robbing votes from Hispanic Democrafts and adding upstate Republican farmers, ranchers, and — especially — oil men. The first thing he did when he got to D.C. was vote for Paul Ryan’s budget, which would turn Social Security into a Wall Street private investment windfall and dismantle almost all the gains made during the Roosevelt years before and after WW2. These people have nothing but disdain if not contempt for those less fortunate than they are and Flake Farenthold is no exception. He doesn’t care about the poor and the middle class: he has his inheritance and everyone else can eat generic pork and beans. I believe the gerrymandered state is on appeal and next time around we may get a Fair Deal. At least get rid of this rich little snob.

  • Tom

I think the house passed a bill to fund all vet payments… it was the senate that would not vote on it. Spin all you want it just gets boring…. I like coffee over tea, but I hate your spin of shit.

    • Randy Montgomery

Yes, you’re right. The senate refused to fund that bill. This is after the Republicans shut down the government, shouted at park service employees for closing the veterans memorial and thought they would act like heroes and try to open the government one high profile section at a time. The senate (and the Democrats) wouldn’t fall for their scheme however and refused to fund one part of the government unless the whole country was back to work. No spin, Tom, just the way it was.

      • IReadtheConstitution-DidYou?

Randy. Have you ever read the Constitution? If you had you would realize that the information you are getting from the main stream media is all bull shit. The Democrats are moving this country into socialism. If you can give me one instance in history where socialism has worked, I will consider listen to you. If you don’t know where to start, just look back on Stalin, Hitler, Mao Tse-tung and Castro…. they started off with socialism…

        • CJ

I’m afraid I just don’t see where we are headed for socialism (defined as a centrally planned economy in which the government controls all means of production). It would eliminate any type of competition between companies. I see nothing that even begins to show that our government is trying to take over and reducing competition among the industries. Even the ACA doesn’t even come close to such a setup of government…it does not inhibit the insurance companies from being competitive with pricing. Our economy is not driven that way…it is still based on capitalism (responds to changing prices because failure to do so will cause it to lose money).

          • OHSTFUTWIT

LMMFAO!!!!!!! So, what part of the CURRENT government run healthcare, called the VA, is working efficiently? And you don’t see a problem with what been rammed down the throat of the American people….oh, guess we need to pass that bill in order to know what’s in it…..”wisdom” from YOUR minority “leader” Pelosi

          • CJ

VA has it’s issues for sure although a lot of it comes from lack of funding. But don’t knock the VA healthcare…it’s been a blessing for me and my family to have that coverage since my husband passed. Without it…we wouldn’t have had any healthcare at all.

And by the way…if you don’t want to get a plan under the ACA…DON’T! You are not required to get it through the government…you can go out and buy your own insurance plan. You can still get insurance through your employer. Or you can just pay the $95/year and take your chances that you will never get sick. Your choice.

        • Randy Montgomery

First, Reader, There was nothing untruthful in my reply to Tom. Also our conversation wasn’t directly about the constitution or socialism. However since you bring it up- the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines socialism like this:
a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies
Nobody in Washington. left or right, is advocating this. Even in Obamacare the insurance companies make the policy and keep the profits.
Point two: I would consider Medicare and Social Security to be socialist. Shall we do away with them?
Point 3: I’m running out of time and I expect since you won’t like the facts I’ve presented here you’re probably just going to insult me with an ad hominem attack I’ll stop here and wish you a great day.

        • Tiredofconservativebull

Hitler killed the communists. He was not a socialist. If you want an example of a functioning and successful socialist democracy, look at the Nordic countries.

      • Grizzly907LA

Randy your the reason why America is failing. Your treason pal Osama Obama ordered those barricades to be put up in order to make the shutdown as difficult upon the American people as possible you f#@king idiot. A park Ranger came out and said as much. I despise treasonous filth like you who lie and distort the facts. I am going to have some rope handy for people like you. You and your ilk are going to pay for your crimes when we take this country back. The RINO’s will also suffer for stabbing this country in the back. We didn’t lose the shutdown fight, the RINO’s gave aid and comfort to the enemy and gave in to the treason liberals demands. McConnell got a 4 billion kick back. Actually, Grizzly907LA, I take back this last response. What I really want to say is I’m sorry that you and I can’t have a meaningful dialogue about this country. We obviously both love it but in very different ways.If you feel you “didn’t lose the shutdown fight” then be proud and happy about it. But if your response to someone like me who disagrees with you is to call them names and threaten to hang them I honestly fear for our country if more people like you gain control.
Take a deep breath and have a great day.

        • CJ

::sigh:: How hard is for you baggers to understand? The policy to shut down the parks was setup years ago.The parks were also closed during the gov shutdown of the 90’s where once again the two parties could not agree (guess who was around for that one too? Boehner) The decision was based on the fact that with the furlough of most of the employees who see to the safety of the park there would be no one on hand to provide the necessary assistance of park visitors.

The National Park Service has responded that it is legally mandated to protect national park lands and, in the absence of available staff to patrol, maintain and administer the areas, must close them to the public. The vast majority of the agency’s staff have been furloughed, leaving only a limited number of law enforcement rangers and firefighters on duty to protect life and property.

Richard Seamon, a law professor at the University of Idaho and former assistant solicitor general, told the Christian Science Monitor that the NPS risked vandalism, crime and legal liability if it left its properties open to the public during the shutdown. “If I were a lawyer for the Park Service, I’d advise it in no uncertain terms to close the parks to the public during the government shutdown, because it would be irresponsible to do otherwise. There are bound to be accidents or crimes that would have been avoided or ameliorated had officials been on duty to respond or patrol.” Leaving the parks open, he said, “would be a veritable open season for criminals” [http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2013/1003/Government-shutdown-Do-national-parks-really-need-to-be-barricaded]

At Acadia National Park, a hiker who was violating the closure order fell and injured her knee on October 5. All four rangers on duty were required to respond (along with a team of five search and rescue volunteers) in order to carry the hiker out of the park on a litter. Park ranger Ed Pontbriand said the situation illustrated the reason why closing the park to the public was necessary. “We’re so short of staff, we can’t handle major incidents in the park. That’s why we’re asking people to do the right thing and honor the closure,” he said.[http://bangordailynews.com/2013/10/05/news/hancock/visitors-determined-to-enjoy-closed-acadia-national-park-a-real-problem-for-rangers/]

Farenthold needs to sacrifice his seat in Congress to someone who understands that veterans already sacrificed. The least Congress can do is to ensure veterans’ checks are not interrupted by political idiots trying to sabotage the country.

I am a liberal going back to the McGovern campaign in 1972. Nonetheless, I am concerned about this piece. According to the reporting – and we have no rational reason to doubt it – that the question the congressman was in the context of the complaints of disabled veterans whose checks had been delayed or imperiled. The piece as posted, however, did not show that context, and that makes it subject to the Teapublican tactic of claiming distortion. I’d support the station posting an extended video of the interview so that we can see the evidence more clearly.

    • https://www.facebook.com/kenneth.anderson.522 Kenneth Anderson

I don’t care what ones political affiliation is. I am a disabled veteran. After multiple tours in Iraq I was finally hit by a roadside bomb. I spent 9 months in the hospital recovering and a year and a half in rehabilitation learning how to walk again and use my hands again. I suffered 3rd degree burns over 48% of my body, with both hands burned off and requiring skin grafts. Mt right leg was almost severed from my body with the femoral artery severed. I am glad they were able to save my leg (many of my friends haven’t been so lucky). At what point does someone realize that a disabled veteran has sacrificed enough? I have military friends in other nations whom I have met over the years, and we stay in touch and they make it very clear that whatever financial problems their governments face the veterans are never threatened, as they are seen as the ultimate sacrificial members of society who paid more than their fair share. I am 100% disabled, I am attending college now so that I can find a new career withing the limits of my injuries. Before going on active duty I was a county deputy, but due to injuries am unable to perform those functions. The only income i have while attending college is my disability. Again, I think myself and those other members from the various branches of military service have paid enough and sacrificed enough.

      • IReadtheConstitution-DidYou?

Kenneth. Thank you for your service and your sacrificed. If you listen to the video this Tea Party Republican did not say what this hack of a ‘writer’ (reading her bio, she is more of a whore for sale to anyone who will buy her shit) is saying in this article. I also don’t understand how they can call themselves (Tea-party Against) Americans. They have clearly never read, or can comprehend the Constitution or the Bill of Rights or the Declaration of Independence and they have no clue why we dumped Tea into the Boston harbor. Thank you for fighting for my freedom. Perhaps when all this is done and America is restored to what she once was, people like the one that wrote this article will thank you too.

Fat boy didn’t sacrifice at all during this time of famine for the poorest in his district and across the nation. Blake Farenthold has no clue and in fact holds total loyalty to the TEA-party and not his constituents in his district. No one should suffer in this the richest of nations, but El Rotundo cares less as long as he doesn’t miss dessert! Everyone must vote to effect change for the people. TEA-types will vote and that creates non-compromising, poisoning the wells, scorched earth tactics like Flaky-Blake and his cohorts inflicted on America. 24 billion in lost government money, 33 billion in lost wages and services for all the park closures across the nation. Senators and representatives at the state level and nationally did fine and didn’t one meal, while veterans, a women and children and the poor failed to eat. And to top this all off, they are going after more cuts in benefits, while protecting the 1% from increased taxes. TEA-fringe types must be removed! You and I will have to do our part, with boots on the ground and get deputized to register people to vote, get registration forms, camp out at gatherings, grocery stores, churches and fire stations to raise the level of participation in the political arena. Check with your state and county requirements. Stay within the law.

You call it “spinning”. I call it being a liar. He wasn’t referring to vets at all and you knew it before you wrote this piece of garbage. You just diminished you worth to below sea level.

  • https://www.facebook.com/no.guff No Guff

Yeah, you love spinning alright. And that’s all you did here is spin this story, spun it into Liberal gold out of straw. This guy didn’t make any reference to veterans having to sacrifice something and wasn’t talking about veterans and wasn’t asked about veterans, he was talking about the country making sacrifices to reach certain goals. Barack Obama said the exact same thing, and told Americans we need to “tighten our belts” and “sacrifice.” Funny how you and the veterans weren’t blowing your tops over that one, saying Barack Obama wants disabled war veterans to sacrifice something for their country for once in their lives. Right?

    • AATTP

Yeah, and you are apparently too lazy to watch the news report we so graciously embedded directly after the article.

Reporter: “We asked him about the people who said he’s lost their vote — people like retired Veterans here who are on the verge of losing their disability checks next month. He said the stalemate in Washington was necessary to achieve party goals.”

  • latoday

I say the only to stop this and for them going after our benefits is to sue them, not for money, but for ever trying to pass any budget or bill that would hurt us Veterans and all our benefits… it started with bush, he started to change many things about Veteran benefits, which some Vets would believe or admit to…. these teapublicans, ryan’s budget had a lot to change our benefits, but, I think through some pressure it was changed, at least from what I have read on his latest hate budget…. but, that doesn’t mean it won’t sneak it’s way back in, wake up they don’t care about anyone except themselves and what people like them gain… the shitty mitty spokr clearly on this in regards to the 47% and the 1% knows this and have the money…. we need to take back the power…..

  • Shado

So, the sentiment this man expressed is wholly inappropriate. Veterans have already Sacrificed. I am no fan of the tea party.

But was it really necessary for the author of the article to engage in the ‘fat bashing’? Honestly, it destroys any credibility she has as a journalist.

I found nothing in this interview that mentioned disabled vets, hmm.
That being said, the comments post on this story seem to blame Republicans for the shutdown. The House sent numerous bills to fund the government as far back as June. Senator Reid would not allow them to be voted on. Soooo, who really wanted the shutdown?
    Well played sir, well played.

Right because every single bill the house sent to fund the government included defunding a program that was already a law. You’d think they’d have gotten message after just a couple of their overturned votes to get rid of it that they’d realize it was a fruitless effort.

    • http://metamarsha.wordpress.com MetaMarsha

And I take it then you’re choosing to ignore the deal that was made and agreed to – by both Republicans and Democrats – which reduced spending even more than Repubs asked for – only to have Republicans ‘change their minds and demand more’ when it came time to vote.

    • zante

While I find his words to be reprehensible, I see no reason to deride him for his weight. His views are enough of a reason. I am a heavy woman, and yes I like to cook and eat. But if you think that means I have not made sacrifices in my life, then you are awfully shallow. There are many kinds of sacrifices that people can make. Again, his words are enough to deride him without insulting every overweight person in the country.

      • James D. Covington

You’re pretty good at reading into people’s comments, eh, zante? My comment was exclusively directed at Rep. Farenthold, yet you took offense as if the comment was directed to you as well (which was NOT the case at all-since I did not know you existed at all until you felt compelled to respond…). You need to work on your reading comprehension so you can discern when someone is talking about something/someone exclusively or inclusively.

Zante, I’m a Veteran, and I have a weight problem, unrelated to food intake, that put 100 pounds on my body in a year, and because it is not diet or exercise related, I cannot get rid of this weight, so I understand what YOU are saying, but I don’t think that you are accurately connecting the Sacrifices that the Fat Stupid Bastard Farenthold has never made, not even a refusal of pay, to the Sacrifices that Veterans have made. If you have not made the sacrifices that a Veteran has made, you can NEVER know what the magnitude and/or extent of those sacrifices is. Your comment is out of place here.

        • http://metamarsha.wordpress.com MetaMarsha

I am also a service-disabled veteran, and I find Farenthold’s comments reprehensible and idiotic. But, Zante is right. What does his weight have to do with it? He would still be a tool for his comments even if he were skin and bones, so why the fat-bashing comments? How do they possibly add any validity or high ground?

Am I to assume that because you are overweight, you are also reprehensible and idiotic? I don’t see the correlation.

As for comparing ‘sacrifices;’ really?! You know enough about Zante’s life and situation to judge that she somehow has less right to feel she’s made sacrifices? That’s not judgmental, is it?

What’s out of place is your insistence that only veterans can know anything about sacrifice and that you somehow hold the rights and moral high ground to make such a claim.

And yes, I say this as a service-disabled veteran. We don’t hold the patent on sacrifice and, to me, the idea that any veteran would make such a claim is utterly shameful and counter to the very reasons we serve in the first place.

That guy most likely has enough money he could actually get something done about his weight. Most of us don’t have those options.

        • Imsloan

F@$k the sensitivity police. This jerk wad deserves everything that is coming to him

To all you that feel you need to give a Dissertation about being fat, these comments are not meant to attack the fat people, it’s about the numb skull that made the statement who happens to be fat!

Is that grotesquerie serious? God-DANG, what a moron! What a pretentious ice-hole.

  • Cynthia

Who elected this scumbag. Geez, what a pig. Vets already sacrificed you cow, how about pushing your chair away from the table and do your job fatass.

  • http://friendsofcharliebean.wordpress.com skippy56

he needs to make a few sacrifices first by losing weight so we are not paying high medical cost for the care of him later, then if he wants to lower taxes, remove corporate welfare so the need to have high taxes on individuals is lessened. After he does this, go back to Texas and drink the water, not the kool-aid

    Taxed Enough Already……………..aren’t you?

    • Randy Montgomery

Taxes are currently at a 60 year low. Don’t you think you should contribute to your country at all? Should I pay your share of the defense budget, the highway system, FEMA etc., etc? It’s the price we pay to live in a society

F@ck the sensitivity police. I personally do not believe in showing consideration and respect to those who don’t show it to others. Now is not he time to be sidetracked by the sensitivity and concern trolls. These people need to be taken down by whatever means necessary. Political correctness is a trap of our own design

His weight has zero to do with anything – the gross attitudes on this comment feed as well as the nasty fat shaming in the article are repulsive. Too bad, because I would like to have shared this with friends and family. I’ll look for the information from a source that has evolved past demonizing people for their body size. Grow the fuck up, y’all.

That bloated bag of pig manure was a radio talk show host before getting elected to Congress. God, we have some really stupid people in CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS and the surrounding communities of Shiner, Refugio, Luling, Edna, and Yaokum. You just can’t make this stuff up, it’s so incredibly stupid.

This brainless Jabba is telling veterans they will have to tighten their belts?!
And people in Texas actually elected him? Legitimately?
There’s a word he is unable to use in the same sentence with “President Obama”. Texas, throw this bum out! With the other one, cruz. Show the world texans have a brain after all.

How dare you tell other people, especially veterans, that they have to make sacrifices, when you kept your ample salary and your generous health insurance after you had shut down the government and were sitting on your fat fundament twiddling your thumbs? People in the private sector who refuse to work and try to continue to draw their salary get fired, and that’s what is going to happen to you at the next election, you brazen hypocrite!

  • linda123

As a member of congress, doesn’t this fat slob have access to a good dental plan?

  • timothy paris spence

try eating 3 days on 5.00 you fat lazy bastard. this is whats wrong with this country me and 10 plus of my family gave and put our lives on the line for???? i make 10.00 a day and you make 15,000 a month? fat piece of shit.

  • Raji the Green Witch

In other words. The Turd bucket from TX who NEVER served a second in defense of the Nation, yet spewed his narrow-minded opinionated garbage over the radio for more than 10 years is telling us VETERANS who actually SACRIFICED of our own time, blood and in many cases our very lives that WE should sacrifice for our country? Lard ass, YOU are the one who needs to sacrifice for the Nation. Try giving up a few CHEESEBURGERS, for starters, you FAT leeching slob! You don’t GET to tell disabled VETERANS that at all. Your being a Congressman does NOT earn you that privilege in the slightest. Produce a DD-214 and then you MIGHT have a tiny bit of credibility when it comes to sacrificing for this Nation. Until then keep your two cents to yourself.

      • dd Turner

You are not far off. I had hoped he would keep his trap shut but no, he had to open it and prove what an idiot he really is.

      • CJ

That made me chuckle…that’s one of my favorite (but little-known) movies because I swear that’s exactly where this country is heading.(ESPECIALLY every time I hear Palin & Cruz open their mouths).

“I’m Secretary of State, brought to you by Carl’s Jr.”
“I can’t believe you like money too. We should hang out.”
        ” Because Brawndo’s got electrolytes.”

And finally…my favorite is from the narrator:
“Narrator: As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species.”

” The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections.”

Yep, yep, yep…I see us heading in that direction.

      • sherri jackson

I like money. Back to you Formica. I too have made many comments about how that movie is not so far fetched, with idiots running government, cutting funds to public schooling. Look how kids talk these days, words they make up(must of learned that from Palin), misspelling them, and it’s going to get worse if we keep letting people like this jerk run our government. The wealthy politicians only care about that almighty dollar bill, but only when it lines their pockets, they do not care how most Americans have to struggle day to day just to make ends meet. And the Republicans pride themselves saying they are Christians. They must have their own bible, because their actions are far from true Christian behavior. Jesus walked among the poor and enslaved. Not with the wealthy and the Corporate fellows. Gluttony, is one of the deadly sins. And I don’t mean that just because of his weight, You can be a glutton with many things. Money, Greed, wanting it all while others suffer. What a jerk, and I think Idiocracy is even giving him too much credit, I guess too many electrolytes have gone to his fathead.

  • Arlene Banks

Veterans have already made more sacrifices and given more to the people of this nation than any other group, especially our Congress and Senate. What they get in disability does not even come close to the repayment they deserve and NEVER ask for. If veterans are forced to sacrifice again, there had better be a full Congress/Senate sacrificing right along with them. I’d say cutting their (Congressional) pay in half and/or suspending all perks would be a fair exchange for starters.

    • Dorothy

If the Veterans of our country are to lose what littel payment they receive for fighting for our country, for bleeding for this country then the Senate and Congressman, and women need to lose all or their pay and have NO PERKS. No cars with drivers, no planes with piolots…make the bastards take the city bus!

  • Steve Key

Can you give the exact quote and the context it was given in?

    • AATTP

You mean give the exact quote like we did in the article? Context seems irrelevant since there is NO context in which the following direct quote could be spun into a good thing. Is there?

Let us quote the Congressman since this statement cannot be paraphrased

“I feel like my mandate when I was elected was to go reduce the size of government, lower taxes, and increase freedom, and freedom isn’t free, and sometimes you have to make a small sacrifice to move forward with what you’re after,” Farenthold said.

      • Steve Key

This statement is what most Conservative Americans believe. You have just spun it to fit your agenda by saying he was directing it at Veterans….which I don’t see any evidence that’s what he intended. What’s wrong with small government, lower taxes and increased freedom? I’m a Veteran and I’m for all of these…I take you are not.

        • Jennifer Griffith

Reporter: “We asked him about the people who said he’s lost their vote — people like retired Veterans here who are on the verge of losing their disability checks next month. He said the stalemate in Washington was necessary to achieve party goals.”

      • Steve

The statement he made is what most Conservative Americans believe. The context matters because it appears that you have spun this to fit your own agenda and I don’t see where he directed this at Veterans at all as your article would suggest. What’s wrong with wanting a smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom anyhow? I’m a veteran and I’m for all of these….I take it you are not.

  • Nargaret Schroeder

Could Red. Farenthold make available the time period he served in U.S. Military? Just curious!

  • http://gravatar.com/rengeko rengeko

seriously, WHY are all these tealiban types so UNATTRACTIVE? is it their true personalities coming through?

  • Sean

While I agree that Rep. Farenthold isn’t qualified for his position, I don’t think making fun the man’s weight adds anything to the conversation, nor does it make anyone want to listen to what you have to say. Making immature jabs at someone’s weight isn’t progressive, it’s just childish.

    • dd Turner

You have a valid point, but this man, who misses few meals from the looks of him, voted to deprive other people and kids any kind of assistance.

    • https://www.facebook.com/steve.temke Steve Temke

Ordinarily, I would agree with your objection to just picking on the man about his weight. BUT, when the entire gist of Farenthold’s message is to “make sacrifices” and tighten our belts, it’s especially galling to be lectured to about these things from a man who looks as if he’s never met a cheeseburger he didn’t like.

  • Imsloan

You gotta love being lectured to about sacrifice by big fat fuck

  • Trixr4kids

How did this ignoramus get elected? Do they just mark the box next to whoever has an (R) by their name?

    • dd Turner

Oh, not it is easier than that. All they have to check is the Straight Republican or Straight Democrat box and they have votes.

  • https://www.facebook.com/marianne.cooklin1 Marianne Cooklin

  • Storm

Didn’t they (vets) already make enough sacrifices???
