Did you ever wake up one more and tell yourself, “We need more law enforcement officers like Barney Fife in the world?”
Alas, Barney Fife would’ve been an improvement; a good-natured buffoon is better than a malicious mental midget. Conservative “rock” “star” Ted Nugent was deputized by local law enforcement at a 2 August Tea Party event in Wyoming.
While at the event, he complained about America’s alleged post-World War II decline, saying “We have bent over backwards since World War II because we couldn’t believe that the universally celebrated good of America crushed the universally understood evil of the Japs and Nazis.”
I suppose if internment camps for Japanese citizens, sending 937 Jewish people back to Europe where about a quarter would die in concentration camps, common use of sexual violence against women in liberated France, and the Canicatti, Biscari, Audouville-la-Hubert, and Malmedy Massacres, among others, qualify as “universal good. . .”
His definition of “universal” requires work.
In addition to spewing about his infantile, black-and-white view of the world, Nugent also accused hunters in Colorado of allowing “bureaucrats” to limiting their second amendment rights, and told the members of the audience to each “fix” 100 people and get them to vote conservative. He also suggested that if hunters can’t convince their wife to go hunting with them, they should “fix” her or “replace” her:
If I hear another hunter tell me, ‘Man, I wish I could get my wife to support hunting,’ fix your wife. Fix her or replace her.
Nugent was deputized along with an ex-Fox “News” contributor, Paul Valley, by Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn, because clearly they had nothing better to do out there in Wyoming.
The Big Horn Radio Network reported that Blackburn and his department also wasted taxpayer money and resources to provide personal security for Nugent. When asked, Blackburn brushed aside all criticism: “If I am I am. It’s my job. I pay $25 for the privilege. Have at ‘er.”
