If your movement is infamous for being anti-intellectual, anti-education, and filled with barely literate buffoons with misspelled signs – then ending mandatory education probably isn’t the best policy position.
Enter TEApublicans (of course) Aaron Osmond. Osmond is the nephew of entertainers Donny and Marie Osmond and he’s going to war with public education. Osmond, like most regressive idiot TEApublicans, is very “old-fashioned” to say the least. He pines for the time, before 1890 when educating children was not mandatory in that state because education was “an opportunity” as opposed to a right, we’re guessing.
Osmond wrote on the Utah State Senate blog, “Some parents act as if the responsibility to educate, and even care for their child, is primarily the responsibility of the public school system.”
Osmond continued, “As a result, our teachers and schools have been forced to become surrogate parents, expected to do everything from behavioral counseling, to providing adequate nutrition, to teaching sex education, as well as ensuring full college and career readiness.”
So? We’re guessing that the aversion to education has something to do with the fact that the more educated you are, the less likely you’ll believe B.S. like Osmond and his cult of Ayn Rand-worshiping psychopathic teabaggers are selling.
